· This is the first month that I have ever recorded more than 100 mm in any given day. The fact that I received 107.4 mm of rain on the 7th & 111.2 mm on the 8th makes that particular rainfall event all the more significant. In the first 9 days alone, I received a massive 311.7 mm, and so far this year, I have received a total of 828.2 mm. This is 207 mm above my previous highest total till this time of year.

· Sydney received 371 mm of rain which is the wettest May for 76 years. Newcastle received 441 mm for May and have so far received a total of 831.2 mm for the year. Nelson Bay (on the coast of Port Stephens about 50 km from where I live) received Australia's highest May total (so I've heard) with 622 mm of rain falling. In contrast, Canberra only received 2 mm of rain for the month. Source: The Daily Telegraph & The Newcastle Herald (Friday 1st June, 2001).

RECENT ADDITIONS TO STATISTICS LIST

1. A comparison to the long term averages for all Humidity & Dew-Point Temperature data (as you may have noticed).

2. I set up all of my set time data files (including previous data) to include air pressure & trend readings. Now I just have to insert the data. At this stage, I have no plans on producing long-term averages. Only for data recorded at 12am, 9am, 3pm, 6pm & 9pm.

3. This weather report can now be found on the web. If you would like to take a look, just go to www.liveweatherimages.com/ and follow the links from 'Message Board', to the 'Local Reports' forum. Last month's report has so far been viewed 54 times.

4. I have extended my extreme temperatures recorded throughout a 24 hour period (every half-hour) to be now over a monthly period as well as for the extreme overall single daily period.
