SUMMARY (NOTABLE WEATHER EVENTS)
· The year began on a very warm, dry & windy note with January seeing little rainfall. I recorded record low dew-point temperatures for January with 2.0°C on the 1st, 3.0°C on the 2nd, 1.0°C on the 3rd & 4.0°C on the 4th.
· Worthwhile rainfall was recorded during the first week of February. A total of 233.9 mm was recorded over the first nine days with 42.5 mm on the 1st, 61.2 mm on the 5th & 71.0 mm on the 6th.
· March remained mainly dry recording only 14.8 mm until the 29th of the month. From then on I recorded 35.6 mm on the 29th, 78.2 mm on the 30th & 10.5 mm on the 31st.
· May marked the beginning of winter with some cool mornings setting in. Although far from May records, I recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4°C on the 19th. I recorded a minimum ground temperature of 2.1°C on the same morning.
· June was a cool & dry month apart from the 55.5 mm of rain that fell on the 2nd. I recorded a near record low June temperature of 2.1°C on the 27th (record was 2.0°C). Minimum ground temperature was -2.1°C on the 28th.
· July was a remarkable month breaking all sorts of records. The most major being for minimum air temperature, I went down as far as 0.3°C (previous record was 0.0°C). I also recorded a record low average dew-point temperature of -1.65°C & record low average minimum wind chill temperature of 2.06°C (previous record was 2.50°C) & a min wind chill temperature of -3.0°C. I recorded a Minimum Grass Temperature of -6.4°C on the 12th, -5.2°C on the 3rd & 19th & -4.7°C on the 13th.
· September & I recorded a record minimum wind chill temperature of -1.0°C on the 10th during a brief & light hailstorm.
· October brought that memorable 1 in 100 year (or there-abouts) dust storm covering QLD, NSW & VIC. I recorded my lowest air pressure on the same day (23rd) of only 987 hPa. Total Fire Bans were in place for much of October.
· Some hot days surfaced in November with 40.3°C being recorded on the 25th & 26th. This month remained mainly dry.
· December also remained mainly dry apart from the 10th, 11th & 12th where I recorded 14.0 mm, 105.5 mm & 40.7 mm respectively. A record low December temperature of 7.3°C was recorded on the 7th (previous record was 8.0°C).
