Weather Chases
~ Wed 1 Nov - With a gusty NW wind blowing I ventured out along Nobby's Breakwall with BoM standard anemometer
& video camera in hand. After running through some blowing sand to near the BoM's anemometer I recorded a gust
of 90km/h at 1310, with temperatures over 40°C, sensational.
Hail Reports
~ Numerous hail events occurred through December in the Hunter (too many to mention). The reports I have are:
9th - Torrential rain mixed with rare 0.8cm stones and strong winds strike Western Ray Tce
13th - Hexham (1730) 1-2cm stones with amazing cloud structure, and later (1830) Morpeth area 1-2cm stones
Record High Number of Thunder Days for Any Month
~ I recorded a record number of both Thunderstorms & Distant Ts's.
Previous high for Thunderstorms was Dec 1997 with 9 days,
and for Distant Ts's was 11 days on both Jan & Sep 2004.
