| Weather Chases | |||||||||
| ~ Wed 1 Nov - With a gusty NW wind blowing I ventured out along Nobby's Breakwall with BoM standard anemometer | |||||||||
| & video camera in hand. After running through some blowing sand to near the BoM's anemometer I recorded a gust | |||||||||
| of 90km/h at 1310, with temperatures over 40°C, sensational. | |||||||||
| Hail Reports | |||||||||
| ~ Numerous hail events occurred through December in the Hunter (too many to mention). The reports I have are: | |||||||||
| 9th - Torrential rain mixed with rare 0.8cm stones and strong winds strike Western Ray Tce | |||||||||
| 13th - Hexham (1730) 1-2cm stones with amazing cloud structure, and later (1830) Morpeth area 1-2cm stones | |||||||||
| Record High Number of Thunder Days for Any Month | |||||||||
| ~ I recorded a record number of both Thunderstorms & Distant Ts's. | |||||||||
| Previous high for Thunderstorms was Dec 1997 with 9 days, | |||||||||
| and for Distant Ts's was 11 days on both Jan & Sep 2004. | |||||||||
