| Brief 2005 Summary of Significant Weather Events | ||||||||||
| Jan - A mild start to the year with a shock brief but large hail storm on the 20th. | ||||||||||
| Feb - The 20th produced two large storms which moved through the hunter side by side. The North supercell (Branxton) | ||||||||||
| produced 8.5cm hail & although not reported, I suspect the South cell (Cessnock) also produced giant hail. | ||||||||||
| Mar - A mild month with the odd warm day & plenty of rain. | ||||||||||
| Apr - Mild but reasonably dry. | ||||||||||
| May - The morning of the 12th produced some very heavy & consistant rain for a total of 133.8mm in 5 hours. | ||||||||||
| Jun - Mild mainly dry month with a 10-15cm snowfall on the Barrington Tops on the 22-23rd. | ||||||||||
| Jul - Dry month with some cool mornings. | ||||||||||
| Aug - The 10th saw Williamtown record its lowest temp in 20yrs with -1.7°C. During the afternoon a line showers moved | ||||||||||
| through producing small hail in many areas. | ||||||||||
| Sep - Cool with some decent falls early in the month. | ||||||||||
| Oct - The 22nd saw some small hail in the Maitland area, & the 24th saw hail the size of golf balls fall in the Stroud & | ||||||||||
| Buladehlah areas. | ||||||||||
| Nov - Reports of small hail on the 15th, 29th & 30th (widespread), however Weston was an exception on the 30th with | ||||||||||
| hail reported to be the size of a 20cent piece. This was observed around 0800 which is unusual for that time of day. | ||||||||||
| Dec - Warmest ever month on record produced severe hail (golf ball size) on the 1st at Berry Park along with severe winds. | ||||||||||
| I observed only small hail & brief gusty winds this day. The 28th produced hail & strong winds around parts of | ||||||||||
| Newcastle. | ||||||||||
