Gusty
Southerly Change |
|
|
~
Sun 8th - Strong & gusty change struck at 1445 bringing the strongest
winds I have ever seen here from a S'ly change. |
Winds gusted to a max of 68.0km/h at 1450
with many gusts around 60km/h for over 6hrs. Highest 10min avg speed I |
saw was 43.9km/h at 1510 (also the highest
I've seen here). This change brought with it a layer of stratus cloud. |

Hail
Reports |
|
|
~
Tue 31st - Around 1445 a storm cell near Tocal was moving E & began
intensifying. This cell split soon after leaving |
the left-mover to move to the ESE &
slowly decay while the right-mover shot S & rapidly intensified. It was
this left- |
mover that later moved over Newcastle
producing 5cm hail & flash flooding. Widespread large hail & damage
were |
reported through the Newcastle area. |
|
|
Here in RT we received only some brief
moderate winds, heavy showers & some close lightning. |

Completed updating my Min/Max file for the better analysis of averages &
extremes. |
|
|
~
Last month (forgot to mention) that I finished my new averages/extremes excel
file. This is much more comprehensive |
than my previous files with better
analysis of data & automatic referencing for dates of extreme values.
These will be |
available via my website early in the new
year. |
