| Hail Reports | ||||||||||
| Sun 20 Feb 2005 ~ Small hail & very heavy rain was observed near Maitland by Tim Grugeon. | ||||||||||
| Jimmy Deguara who is a stormchaser apparently reported 8.5cm hail near Belford (about 50km to the W). Some of his | ||||||||||
| video footage shown on channel nine's "A Current Affair" showed the giant hail falling and even cracking the front | ||||||||||
| windscreen of his car! This day saw another intense storm track W to E through Lake Macquarie seperated by under | ||||||||||
| 30km. Radar loops show the two supercell storms moving virtually side by side with a similar intensity. I would be | ||||||||||
| very interested in hearing reports from the S storm as I suspect this too would have produced large & possibly giant | ||||||||||
| hail (S of Cessnock). The big surprise is that our home escaped both severe storms, one to the S, the other to the N. | ||||||||||
